Neues Extremolyt verspricht breites Anwendungsspektrum in Kosmetik, Lebensmitteln und Medizin

Die bitop AG aus Witten hat ein effizientes Herstellverfahren für einen neuen Wirkstoff, ein von salztoleranten Blaualgen (Cyanobakterien) synthetisiertes Extremolyt, von der TU Graz einlizensiert. Ähnlich wie die bereits bekannten und in der Kosmetik mehrfach bewährten Naturstoffe Ectoin und Hydroxyectoin des Wittener Unternehmens, handelt es sich hierbei um ein Stressschutzmolekül extremophiler Mikroorganismen mit breitem Einsatzpotential. Dieser neue Schutzstoff ergänzt somit sehr gut das innovative Produktportfolio der bitop AG.

Für die Entwicklung des hocheffizienten biotechnologischen Verfahrens erhielt das Forschungsteam der TU Graz, rund um Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Bernd Nidetzky, kürzlich den mit 8.000 Euro dotierten österreichischen Universitätsforschungspreis der Industrie.
