Das E-Book 'Dokumentation zur Qualitätssicherung von Software zur Immissionsberechnung nach DIN 45687' gilt für Software-Erzeugnisse, mit denen Berechnungen zur Schallausbreitung im Freien vorgenommen werden können. Dazu legt es ein allgemeingültiges QSI-Datenformat und eine QSI Modelldatei für den Austausch von Ein- und Ausgabedaten zwischen verschiedenen Anwendern fest.

Die Norm selbst wurde von einem DIN-Sonderausschuss 'Qualitätsanforderungen und Prüfbedingungen schalltechnischer Software für den Immissionsschutz' erstellt. Sie enthält in Ergänzung zu den Normen DIN 66272, DIN EN ISO 9000-3 und DIN ISO/IEC 12119 besondere Regelungen für die rechnergestützte Berechnung der Schallausbreitung im Freien: Spezifiziert werden die Rahmen- bedingungen für ein allgemein gültiges Datenformat, das
