Management Board of the Bertschi Group enhanced by two non-family Members
"This important step forward will reinforce the management and corporate governance of our expanding Group and will safeguard its longterm future" says Dr. Hans-Jörg Bertschi, Chairman and CEO of the Bertschi-Group. "With Alexander Krebs, we attracted a leading personality with vast experience in the management of familyrun companies. Mr. Boy Litjens, as former CEO of a succesful and strong growing chemical group, will stengthen our company with his crucial knowledge of the global developments in this sector.
The Bertschi Group looks back on a satisfactory 2009, although the turnover of the company decreased by 12 per cent to 630 million Swiss Francs due to the general economic slowdown. Early corrective measures and a tight cost management enabled us to limit the impact on the operative margin. The necessary adjustments were achieved without redundancies. Bertschi increased its market shares during the crisis and comes out of it stronger than before.
In 2009 the Group invested over 50 million Swiss Francs, amongst others in the new Duisburg intermodal terminal (DKT Duisburg Kombi-Terminal) and in a significant new infrastructure in Middlesbrough (UK) for the handling, storing and distribution of overseas' plastics. The Group will continue its anticyclical investment policy in 2010 and will further expand its logistic capacities with regard to the future upturn.
With 42 subsidiaries in 22 countries, Bertschi is the leading provider of chemical logistics in Europe. The company employs 1'700 people and offers its customers integrated logistic concepts based on sustainable intermodal transport flows. Bertschi operates a fleet of 13'500 own liquid- and drybulk containers and runs 1'150 trucks as well as 15 companyowned container terminals throughout Europe.
