BASF raises prices of propionic acid and mixtures again

Due to the unprecedented increases in the cost of raw materials, energy and transportation, BASF is forced to raise its prices for propionic acid and mixtures based on propionic acid again after a first announcement in May 2008. The following price increase is effective immediately or as existing contracts permit:

Europe + EUR80/metric ton
NAFTA, Asia + USD130/metric ton

BASF is a leading supplier of propionic acid with production facilities at Ludwigshafen, Germany and Nanjing, China. The major application of this organic acid is feed grain preservation. It is also widely used in the production of vitamin E and in the
