Das malaysische Finanzministerium hat Balda Thong-Fook Solutions (BTF) als Hoch-Technologie-Unternehmen eingestuft. Das Tochterunternehmen der Balda AG ist aufgrund dieser Entscheidung für die kommenden 10 Jahre von der Einkommensteuer befreit. Die Steuerquote beträgt in Malaysia nominell 28 Prozent. Balda hat im Geschäftsjahr 2005 bei einem Vorsteuer-Ergebnis von umgerechnet 4,9 Millionen Euro Steuern in Höhe von 1,3 Millionen Euro bezahlt. Dies entspricht einem tatsächlichen Steuersatz von 26,6 Prozent.

Am Standort in Ipoh, mit 560.000 Einwohnern die drittgrößte Stadt Malaysias, arbeiten rund 1.400 Mitarbeiter. Produktionsschwerpunkte sind Gehäusekomponenten für Mobiltelefone sowie Entwicklung und Produktion kompletter Bluetooth-Headsets.
