Daimler reagiert auf AUTO BILD-Enthüllungen / Kältemittel R1234yf wegen extremer Brandgefahr vor dem Aus

Mercedes wird das umstrittene Kältemittel R1234yf nicht in seinen Modellen einsetzen. Dies berichtet AUTO BILD in seiner am Freitag erscheinenden Ausgabe (Heft 39). Tests des Herstellers haben ergeben, dass R1234yf einen Brand auslösen kann, wenn es unter praxisnahen Bedingungen auf heiße Motorteile wie Abgaskrümmer oder Turbolader gelangt. Dabei entsteht hochgiftiger und stark ätzender Fluorwasserstoff. Schon seit 2009 berichtet AUTO BILD über mögliche Risiken des Killer-Kältemittels. Untersuchungen der Bundesanstalt für Materialprüfung (BAM) und der Deutschen Umwelthilfe sowie ein von AUTO BILD durchgeführtes Experiment belegen die Gefahren, die von R1234yf ausgehen können.
