Apptopia.com, the 'Sedo for Apps', scores Sedo-founders Tim Schumacher and Ulrich Essmann as Investors

Financing Enables Apptopia to Solve Major Pain Points in the App Ecosystem

Boston, MA, (PresseBox) - Apptopia Inc. (www.apptopia.com) a marketplace that facilitates the acquisitions of mobile apps, announced the founders of Sedo are leading its bridge financing round. The new bump in funding also includes Kima Ventures, Eric Kagan, Telegraph Hill Capital and Rothenberg Ventures among others.

The funding will go towards expansion into international app markets, as the Apptopia marketplace continues to grow and provide developers and publishers with liquidity. Thousands of apps have already been acquired through Apptopia with payouts to developers exceeding $5 Million.

Tim Schumacher and Ulrich Essmann are two of the four co-founders of Sedo.com in 2001, and led the company to become the global leader in Domain Trading and Monetization, with current revenues of the public company of almost $200 Million per year. In 2007, they were named 'Entrepreneur of the Year' by Ernst & Young Germany. Both are excited to join Apptopia as Investors and Advisors: "Apps have become the prime mobile navigational items, just like domain names on the web. Apptopia.com and its awesome team are in a market-leading position to capture this market. We are proud to now be part of this story."

"In sharing Apptopia's solution with advisors, investors, and existing customers, we learned that we had built a platform that reached far beyond the scope we'd originally envisioned, and we believe Apptopia has the ability to alleviate some of the core underlying problems and inefficiencies publishers and app stores are currently facing." said Eliran Sapir, the Founder and CEO of Apptopia.

The App Economy was worth $70 Billion in 2013 and is expected to rise to $143 Billion by 2016. With over 2.3 million apps available today, app discoverability and monetization are the two biggest challenges facing developers and app stores. Apptopia envisions the consolidation and acquisition of apps as an integral part of the future and is paving the way towards a higher quality and more profitable app ecosystem.
