Die Vermessung von Bauteilen gehört in der industriellen Fertigung zum Alltag. Allerdings sind gerade in der Produktion die Umgebungsbedingungen zum Messen nicht ideal: Maschinen lösen Schwingungen aus, Gabelstapler erzeugen Erschütterungen, und der Messbereich ist nur selten geschützt. Unter diesen Bedingungen kann man kaum sicherstellen, dass das zu messende Objekt während der Datenerfassung vollkommen unbeweglich stehen bleibt. Genau das erfordern aber die meisten Messsysteme, u. a. Lasertracker oder Messarme, um hochgenaue Messergebnisse zu generieren. Schon minimale Bewegungen des Werkstücks oder des Messgeräts führen zu ungenauen Ergebnissen. Haben sich Objekt oder Messsystem verschoben, muss die Messprozedur oft von vorn beginnen.
