IBBS 19 - International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Symposium

The International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation Society (IBBS), in collaboration with the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA), announces the Society's 19th triennial symposium, IBBS19, to be held at BAM in Berlin, Germany, 9-12 September 2024.

The symposium will address a broad range of research on biodeterioration and biodegradation of various man-made and natural materials and products that are of economic and cultural importance.

The IBBS would like to encourage all scientists working in the diverse fields of biodeterioration and biodegradation to make plans to attend and present oral papers or posters at IBBS19. Session topics will include biodeterioration and bioremediation mediated by microbes, insects, and higher organisms. Biodeterioration sessions will focus on damage to architecture, artwork and archives, ancient structures, industrial infrastructure, and materials such as fuels. Bioremediation sessions will focus on the ecology of spill remediation and hazardous waste neutralization.

Further and more detailed information concerning the scientific program, registration, and the conference venue can be found on this page early next year. Please stay in touch with us for updates on this page about the upcoming symposium.
