Polish Environment Ministry invites BBB to advise on wind energy issues

Lecture on noise emissions from wind turbines

(PresseBox) (Gelsenkirchen, )
Following the invitation of the Polish Ministry of the Environment in late August, BBB Umwelttechnik GmbH (BBB) had the opportunity to speak at a conference in Warsaw on the topic of noise emissions from wind turbines. The paper entitled: "Basic Acoustic Environmental Problems in the Design and Operation of Wind Farms - European Experience" was presented by Oliver Thomas, head of BBB’s department for international planning services and project development.

The conference was organized by the ministry’s working group responsible for the sound issues. The working group is involved as part of the European ENEA network "Partnership for Environment and Development" in the creation of a legislative framework to enable sustainable economic development. The ENEA (European National Environmental Authorities) aims at the continual formation of employees of European environmental ministries, bringing them recent studies on relevant topics at hand.

BBB was invited as an internationally active and highly specialized engineering consultancy on the recommendation of the Polish Wind Energy Association (PWEA). The presentation by BBB employee Thomas was very well received, according PWEA, and was the starting point of an objective and at the same time lively discussion among the conference participants. "We felt honored by the invitation and hope that we were able to help the participants to gain more clarity in this highly important wind energy related topic" Thomas said after the event.

For BBB, which was founded in 1996 and offers a wide range of project development services and technical due diligences, the Polish market is not foreign. During the nineties the technical consulting firm had worked there in wind energy projects. In the past two years, the commitment was promoted again. BBB was presented at the Polish Wind Energy Conference, enhanced its cooperation with the Polish WINDHUNTER Group and became member of PWEA.

That Poland is among the countries with large potentials for the production of energy from wind power, is well known. There is also the commitment to practically double the share of renewable energies until 2020 due to the EU's climate objectives. But for the use of existing resources and the implementation of the requirements from Brussels the appropriate legal framework is still missing in Poland - in particular the adaption of the Renewable Energy Act is long-awaited.
