Toni Technik celebrates landmark

Innovative testing technology for MPA Kaiserslautern.

Lorsch, (PresseBox) - The Zwick Roell Group’s construction materials specialist Toni Technik recently celebrated a landmark - the delivery to MPA Kaiserslautern of the 1,000th ToniTROL control system, supplied in conjunction with a state-of-the-art 4-column flexure testing machine from the ToniTOP range designed for high-accuracy deformation measurement. Around 60 specialists from the construction and testing industries attended the ceremony in Kaiserslautern on the 20th November 2008.

The new machine will be used extensively for an application currently in the news - testing steel-fiber reinforced concrete to the new regulations of the German Concrete Association (DBV) and the German Sub-Committee for Reinforced Concrete (DafStb). These regulations represented a real challenge for testing machine manufacturers, as this strain-controlled test calls for a high proportion of the stored energy from the frame to be controlled in fractions of a second. The tests are necessary to allow use of steel fiber concrete as a statically reinforced building material.

The 4-column flexure testing machine has a maximum load capacity of 300 kN, possesses extremely high frame stiffness and fully automatic height adjustment and can accommodate flexure tests to a maximum of 2500 x 1100 mm. The universal computer-controlled ToniTROL control and measurement system regulates load, travel and strain as well as performing monitoring and evaluation in tests on construction materials. Together with the high-quality, stiff load frame and testXpert® materials testing software from the Zwick Roell Group, the easy-to-operate ToniTROL microprocessor system forms an all-round construction materials testing system with long-term upgradability.
