Einerseits sollen Züge immer mehr Komfort und Fahrgastsicherheit bieten, andererseits wird von den Zulieferern eine zunehmende Gewichtsreduzierung der Bauteile erwartet. Denn Gewicht kostet Geld, Geschwindigkeit und Energie. Diese schwer zu vereinbarenden Wünsche der Bahnbetreiber erfüllt die System- Montage-Technik GmbH (SMT) aus Forst: Ihr innovatives Heizsystem auf der Basis von Carbon-Nanoteilchen ist leicht, stabil und in hohem Grad energieeffizient. Kein Wunder, dass es SMT zum Q1-Lieferanten der Deutschen Bahn AG gebracht hat. Das Erfolgsrezept des kleinen Spezialunternehmens beruht auch auf der Zusammenarbeit mit regionalen Forschungseinrichtungen, in erster Linie der Brandenburgischen Technischen Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU C-S).
