X-ray inspections of parts bearing a relevance to safety are being switched over more and more to digital flat-panel detectors, particularly in the aviation industry. The omission of film and chemicals for developing and fixation puts less of a burden not only on producers' budgets but on the environment as well. Simple, automated verification of the X-ray system's stable quality, including flat-panel detector and imaging software, can now be effected using the new YXLON software on the basis of the ASTM E2737-10 standard. Required system tests can be carried out without a great deal of time, effort and expenditure. The tests are subsequently summarized in a report which can also be archived as a PDF file.
Above and beyond this, with its new software YXLON is simultaneously complying with the ASTM's evolving DICONDE standard (Digital Imaging and Communication in Nondestructive Evaluation). DICONDE is based on the DICOM standard (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine), which standardizes data formats in medicine and enables their exchangeability, independent of different manufacturers' systems. As a norm for industrial applications, DICONDE makes it possible to combine all the relevant information, such as all the inspection parameters and details on the inspection item, together with the image. All of the data is saved to the fullest extent together with the image.
By enacting system qualification pursuant to ASTM E2737-10 and DICONDE, YXLON once again provides customers with state-of-the-art technology and optimal assurance.
