YXLON supplies innovation in X-ray inspection for tires once again

(PresseBox) (Hamburg, )
YXLON International, the leading supplier of solutions for industrial X-ray inspection and computed tomography (CT), now supplies an improved X-ray detector (fig. 1) specifically designed for inline inspection during tire production. Following development at the YXLON headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the detectors shall continue to be manufactured there.

Contrast resolution and detail detectability have been significantly increased. In an image quality indicator in compliance with ASTM F 1035 (fig. 2), even materials such as rayon in combination with steel are clearly detectable in an image (fig. 3). The improved image quality, and consequently an enhanced quality of inspection, is immediately visible, even in the case of a tire image captured at a low cycle time (fig. 4). Due to modern electronics, the new detector achieves speeds never attained before. For a typical truck tire, up to 75 m/min can be inspected as a result.

The new detector has been optimized further for demanding continuous operation in the tire industry. It reliably operates in difficult plant conditions e.g. at high temperatures, and features a robust Ethernet connection.

The predecessor's successful modularity has been optimized so that the detector module in the new Y.UScan 3 can be exchanged on-site even faster and more easily.

YXLON International offers this detector in the new model Y.MTIS tire inspection systems and for upgrades of existing systems in place.

YXLON International GmbH

YXLON International GmbH, the leading supplier of industrial X-ray inspection systems and computed tomography solutions for the non-destructive testing of materials (NDT), is an innovative high-tech company with a wealth of tradition. YXLON has belonged to the COMET Holding AG (Switzerland) corporate group since June 2007. The COMET FeinFocus division was integrated into the corporate structure at YXLON as a product line in the course of this transition. As a result, YXLON is now able to cover the strong demand for X-ray and CT systems in the microfocus sector as well, for instance, the way they are used in the electronics industry.

With its headquarters in Hamburg (Germany), its subsidiaries and a globally aligned network of representatives worldwide, YXLON provides solutions for any type of production process, yet the same applies for servicing and maintenance work, whether in shipbuilding, pipe and vessel construction, the automotive, aviation and aerospace industries, or for microfocus inspection in the electronics industry.

The selection offered by YXLON encompasses both microfocus and conventional X-ray and CT technologies. The portfolio ranges from portable systems designed for application in the field to standardized modular solutions, complex, fully automatic systems and systems specific to the customer, all the way to FeinFocus microfocus X-ray and µCT systems.
