Yahoo! Europe Signs Shopping Agreement With LYCOS Europe's subsidiary PANGORA in the UK & Germany

New agreement provides Yahoo! Europe customers with ten times more choice

(PresseBox) (London, )
Yahoo! Europe today announces an agreement with PANGORA, a wholly owned subsidiary of LYCOS Europe, to power its shopping platforms in the UK & Germany. The service will provide retailers and over 18 million Yahoo! consumers with one of the most compelling online shopping outlets on the web and more choice than ever before. This agreement follows the long-term cooperation agreement of December 2003 between LYCOS Europe and Yahoo! Europe which includes a collaboration on existing e-commerce and community products.

Under the terms of the agreement PANGORA's powerful shopping portal service with over 700 merchants will be seamlessly integrated into Yahoo! Shopping. The deal will benefit retailers by driving transactions and increasing sales for new and existing retail partners. Consumers will also benefit from a ten-fold increase in merchants across Yahoo! Shopping as well as price comparison tools, state-of-the-art search features and advice.

Yahoo!'s existing retail partners will be able to move to the new service when it launches on the 18th February and PANGORA will begin to market the service to new partners immediately. All retailers will have the opportunity to work directly with Yahoo! Europe to develop bespoke advertising and branding solutions across the Yahoo! network in the UK & Ireland and Germany, while Yahoo!'s local sales teams in each country will manage display advertising on the shopping platforms.

Dave Mutton, Head of Commerce, Yahoo! Europe, says "Yahoo! is committed to providing a high quality shopping service for our users and after an exhaustive review of the Yahoo! Shopping platform in the UK and Germany we are convinced this deal with PANGORA provides the best solution. It will significantly improve the choice of merchants and products available to our consumers and will enable retailers to reach 18 million young affluent consumers in the UK and Germany."

"With this cooperation PANGORA re-enforces it's strong position in two of the leading European online shopping markets - Great Britain and Germany. We now power the shopping channels of more than 25 of the most important Internet portals European wide, which demonstrates that PANGORA's tailored technical solutions and our portfolio of over 700 merchants is a winning combination," says Christoph Röck, Managing Director PANGORA.
