Xantrex(TM) and Schneider Electric present compact power conversion solution at Genera 2009

(PresseBox) (Barcelona/Spain, )
Xantrex Technology Inc., a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, presents the launch of a Compact Solar Power Solution for the Spanish market at the Genera 2009 tradeshow in Madrid, Spain. It is a pre-wired equipment package specifically designed for large scale grid-tied solar farms.

The Compact Solution typically consists of Xantrex solar power inverters and Schneider Electric power equipment, including AC/DC low voltage switchboards, DC combiner boxes, step-up transformers and a medium voltage switch. All of the components are housed in a concrete building to allow quick field wiring from both the solar arrays and the utility grid connection point. Other systems delivered by Schneider Electric can be added to the package including climate controls, security equipment, power metering, supervision and expert maintenance. Custom designs are available using Schneider equipment and Xantrex GT500E inverters in 500 kilowatt (kW) or 1 megawatt (MW) solutions. A metal compact solution is also available for roof installations in Spain.

Xantrex inverters convert the direct current (DC) energy collected by solar panels into high-quality alternating current (AC) power at low voltage. The Schneider Electric transformer in the solution converts the AC power so it can be directly transferred to the utility grid.

"The Compact Solar Power Solution developed by Schneider Electric and Xantrex will significantly reduce installation cost and project cycle time for customers," says Bernd Kohlstruck, Vice President, Wind and European Solar Business for Xantrex Technology Inc. "Previously it was often inefficient and difficult to coordinate the delivery of components from multiple vendors at the jobsite. Now we can offer customers one reliable solution."

Xantrex and Schneider Electric products offer superior performance, reliability, and efficiency. They are also easy to install, and come with a top-quality service program for large commercial and utility scale projects. Xantrex is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schneider Electric, with hundreds of megawatts installed worldwide.

The 500 kW Compact Solution delivered by Schneider Electric, as well as the Xantrex GT500E inverter and a complete portfolio of Xantrex solar products will be on display in Madrid at Genera 2009 in the Xantrex booth #9E19 from May 12 to 14, 2009.
