Against this background, the currently used ERP solution was lacking primarily in the area of reporting processes. The system could not provide the management board with either detailed analysis on inventory nor with a significant comparison about the current order situation of a special product group among all branch offices. Important decisions could only be made with several time delays, resources therefore not be used at their best.
Although the market situation was difficult, EDL decided to go forward and invest in a renewal of their whole business application infrastructure. Internal workflows had to be scaled, the operational efficiency enhanced and information transparency improved throughout all business areas. Moreover EDL focused mostly on standardization. All company processes had to be set on one single platform, the uphold of isolated applications at different locations should be avoided.
Based on this strategy a new strongly connected homogenized reporting was intended to reach an improved quality level and accuracy in all business intelligence agendas so to enhance productivity for several controlling issues.
After a detailed selection process and a precise assessment of the various offers, EDL finally came to a decision: the company was convinced that by implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX and Würth Phoenix´s industry solution WÜRTHPHOENIX Trade+ it would be best able to successfully meet the ambitious requirements of a global competition environment and to cover satisfactorily the increasing demands on delivery time and service quality.
EDL´s choice proved to be right afterwards too: Trade+ covers the majority of EDL´s requirements. Expensive development efforts for individual customizations became only marginally necessary. This way EDL got also the adequate solution concerning questions and uncertainties on the future investment security by an issue-free upgrade ability. Moreover just a short period after the go live, all important reports with WÜRTHPHOENIX Trade+ could be created faster without any big efforts in gathering information from the various locations.
Beside a large coverage of all necessary functionalities, also the vast experience of the project people and their way of managing complex software projects were a decisive criteria that reconfirmed EDL in their decision. Several consultants of Würth Phoenix proved to be absolute professionals by their wide experiences in international roll-outs as well as their broad industry know-how.
