WITTENSTEIN at MOTEK 2014

Mechatronic drive technology with "Factor S" / WITTENSTEIN AG - Hall 9, Stand 9121

(PresseBox) (Igersheim, )
From October 6 to 9, 2014 the WITTENSTEIN Group will be represented at the MOTEK trade fair (Hall 9, Stand 9121) by three of its subsidiaries: WITTENSTEIN alpha, WITTENSTEIN cyber motor and WITTENSTEIN motion control. The exhibit at the Stuttgart fair will focus on the many different aspects of security in mechatronic drive technology - after all, the "Factor S" is a key factor in the realization of efficient, controllable drive solutions.

Control complexity, minimize risks, create security: building on the company's longstanding experience of three particularly crucial aspects - security, intelligence and resource efficiency - WITTENSTEIN drive technology demonstrates how security can be incorporated into mechanical and mechatronic drive solutions. This applies in all kinds of industries - from food processing through robotics and medical technology to the aerospace sector and offshore oil extraction.

What this means in practice is that the Factor S prevents contamination in foodstuffs, improves the productivity of machinery and saves lives. It optimizes pilot training because it ensures problem-free processes and it guarantees undiluted driving pleasure. It maximizes the reliability of highly dynamic systems and facilitates oil extraction at the bottom of the sea.

For many years, now, WITTENSTEIN has been giving thorough consideration to the multiple aspects of security: robustness, functional safety, freedom from defects, reliability, safe operation, and - with Industry 4.0 in mind - data security. All these are central requirements that are built into WITTENSTEIN Group products and solutions as features.

Security in many industrial environments

In addition to extreme environments like airspace or ocean floors, specialized industrial requirements also demand absolute safety. The food and pharmaceutical industries are a good example: WITTENSTEIN alpha's stainless steel Hygienic Design gearhead series was developed in response to the ever stricter hygienic requirements stipulated there and the new customer needs arising from them. The optimized materials and special design principles effectively stop cleaning fluids or product residues from adhering to the surfaces and encouraging breeding grounds to form for bacteria. They help fight microorganisms and thus prevent contamination in foodstuffs.

Security through consulting expertise

Apart from the technical "hardware", several vital security, safety and reliability aspects are also incorporated into all software developed by WITTENSTEIN alpha: WITTENSTEIN alpha's cymex® 3 gives customers reliable, efficient and functionally safe sizing and implementation of complete powertrains - and what's more, allows downsizing opportunities to be identified along with additional options for improving resource efficiency. More than 10,000 motors from all leading manufacturers in what is the biggest library of its kind anywhere in the world support optimal sizing and evaluation of complete powertrains comprised of an application, transformation, gearhead and motor.
