W&H donates dental products to the world's highest situated dental clinic

(PresseBox) (Bürmoos, )
Dental treatment in the Nepalese mountain village of Namche Bazaar has become somewhat of a sensation. The world’s highest situated dental clinic is based here at an altitude of 3,440 m. You can only access it via a multi-day trekking route or a tiny airfield, so supplying the clinic with important medical products and devices is extremely difficult. Most of the local population can barely afford essential dental treatments. Either that or they are performed with very simple tools and methods. W&H has once again sent aid to the dental clinic in Namche Bazaar. The family-run company is providing help on the ground by donating dental products.

As a member of the ‘Dream of Gorakhani’ aid project, W&H is actively involved in construction and development projects in the Nepalese region of Solukhumbu for several years. In addition to building and supporting a school for approximately 100 children in Gorakhani, supplying the dental clinic in Namche Bazaar is one of the dental technology company’s major concerns. “The commitment of the dentist performing the treatment there is outstanding. At the dental clinic in Namche Bazaar, she plays a key role in maintaining the population’s dental health – even with the simplest of tools and methods. Our donation will support this valuable work,” explained W&H’s President Peter Malata.

W&H has been sending products to the remote mountain village since 2011. Dentist Dr Nawang Doka rejoiced to receive again modern equipment in June 2018. She is working in the dental clinic in Namche Bazaar for two decades now, treating locals and tourists alike. Over the past ten years, the village has become an important base for trekking tours and expeditions. The dental clinic is the only one in the region, and thus an important port of call for those seeking help. With W&H products, Dr Nawang Doka can perform a broad range of treatments and ensure that the instruments in her dental clinic are always prepared properly. Yet medical care is not a given in the world’s highest situated dental clinic, and delivering materials to the remote mountain village is no mean feat. With the help of Sherpa guides Nawang and Kaji Pasang, who work in Austrian alpine tourism during winter, the donated products could be safely transported to the dental clinic in Namche Bazaar.
