Unter dem Motto "IT-Wissen ohne Kompromisse" wirbt WEKA MEDIA PUBLISHING im Handel für das komplett überarbeitete Heft. Die wichtigste Änderung: Klassische Rubriken wie "Hardware", "Software", "Praxis" sind obsolet, stattdessen dominieren nur noch zwei große Heftstrecken das Magazin: "Personal Computing" und "Mobile Computing". Erstere behandelt alle IT-Themen rund um die stationäre PC-Nutzung, während die mobile Computernutzung in der zweiten Rubrik eine gleichwertige Heimat findet. Dazwischen liegt eine aufgewertete zehnseitige Tipp-Strecke mit einer Fülle von kleinen Ratgebern für beide digitalen Welten.
Michael Suck, Chefredakteur des PC Magazins, erklärt das Konzept so: "Es gibt einen branchenweiten Trend hin zur mobilen Computernutzung, hin zur mobilen Speicherung von Daten. Wir sehen darin den stärksten Paradigmenwechsel der letzten 25 Jahre - und dem tragen wir Rechnung". Dabei sollen aber die klassischen Tugenden des PC Magazins nicht vergessen werden, im Gegenteil. "Nutzwert für Fortgeschrittene" verspricht Michael Suck. Das bedeutet, dass in allen Artikeln der Praxisbezug im Fokus steht - auch wenn es ins technische Detail geht. Für den tiefgründigen Blick ins Gehäuse hat die Redaktion sogar eigens eine Auszeichnung entwickelt: Das "Profi-Wappen" prangt an all jenen Artikeln, bei denen es um komplexe Hintergrundinformationen geht.
Zusammen mit einem aufgefrischten Layout, das klarer gegliedert ist und mit deutlich mehr Infografiken aufwartet, vollzieht das PC Magazin mit der Ausgabe 1/2013 somit den umfangreichsten Relaunch seiner Geschichte. Das gilt auch für die Webseite: pc-magazin.de wurde als Teil der neuen Online-Strategie der WEKA-Gruppe bereits komplett überarbeitet und trägt ebenfalls dazu bei, die starke Marke PC Magazin online wie offline zukunftssicher zu machen.
