Weidmüller's 'PRO-M' switch-mode power supplies with GL approval

Robust switch-mode power supply units designed for reliability in international shipbuilding applications and offshore wind turbine systems / Very good energy efficiency / Overload resistant and high performance reserves at standard temperatures

(PresseBox) (Detmold, )
Germanischer Lloyd has granted GL approval to Weidmüller's family of robust switchmode power supplies 'PRO-M'. The reliable 'PRO-M' units can now be deployed in national and international shipbuilding projects, ship refurbishments, in 'marine engineering structures' as well as the offshore sector such as in wind turbine systems. They have been approved to 'Environmental Category C, EMC 1', which means the 'PRO-M' family is also approved for installation in bridge applications. Competitor units mostly just have EMC 2 class approvals; there is either no EMC 1 approval or it is available only as an option. By contrast Weidmüller's 'PRO-M' family of switchmode power supplies has EMC 1 approval as standard and are labelled with the GL logo.

With 'PRO-M (Power-Reliable-Optimized) Weidmüller not only offers a reliable and efficient family of 24 VDC switchmode power supplies for the marine engineering sector but also a very good priceperformance ratio. The ten different single- and threephase switchmode power supply units are housed in a compactly designed, robust metal housing. Further distinguishing characteristics of the 'PRO-M' family include better than 90% efficiency, overload resistance and high performance reserves at standard temperatures. When it comes to energy efficiency Weidmüller's switchmode power supplies are simply exemplary. 'PRO-M' power output can be increased by simply connecting up to five units in parallel - without a diode module. AC and DC widerange inputs mean the units are suitable for universal deployment anywhere in the world.

Made of metal the housings of the 'PRO-M' switchmode power supplies are very slim and robust by design. 'PRO-M' devices are rated to IP20 and, to save space, can be mounted flush sidebyside without spacing on TS 35 mounting rails. No air gap is required for cooling purposes. The high MTBF time (Mean Time Between Failures) of >500 000 hours to IEC 1709 (SN29500) is a measure of the inherent high quality and reliability of the Weidmüller 'PRO-M' family of switchmode power supply units.

Each and every unit in the 'PRO-M' impresses with a wide temperature range of
-25...+70 °C, which means they are suitable for practically all environments. Problems in the mains environment are mastered by a high mainsfailure bridging time.
