Weidmüller IE cable for PROFINET: moulded industrial Ethernet cables with PushPull connectors offer a reliable connectivity solution for deployment in industrial applications

Weidmüller is presenting its new 'IE cable for PROFINET' at the Hanover Trade Fair in Hall 11, Stand B 60 from 23.04.2012 until 27.04.2012

(PresseBox) (Detmold, )
For PROFINET and SERCOS III networks Weidmüller offers a new moulded IE cable with PushPull connectors providing a reliable connectivity solution to fulfil industrial application requirements. PROFINET specifications prescribe the use of variant 14 PushPull connectors in IP67 network installations. Weidmüller designed its corresponding connection cable with robust characteristics especially for deployment in industry. Based on components with STEADYTEC® technology the new moulded IP67 patch cable supports applications requiring up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The innovative moulding technique ensures reliable protection against manipulation, effective anti-kink protection as well as excellent strain and bend relief. The sturdy mechanical interface is a distinguishing feature of the IP67 rated connector. Each component fulfils PROFINET specifications and conforms to IEC 61076-3-117, variant 14. Moreover, thanks to STEADYTEC® technology the compactly designed PushPull connectors offer reliable shielding. The pre-assembled PROFINET patch cables are suitable for use with drag-chains (Type C) Cat. 5 moulded, corresponding to category Cat. 5 (ISO/IEC 11801) / Cat.5e (TIA 568-B).

With PROFINET and SERCOS III networks in mind Weidmüller designed a new moulded IE cable with PushPull connectors as a reliable connectivity solution to meet industrial application requirements. PROFINET specifications prescribe variant 14 PushPull connectors for IP67 network installations. Weidmüller's corresponding patch cables are robust and specifically designed for applications in industrial environments. Based on components with STEADYTEC® technology the new, moulded IP67 patch cables support application options up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Thanks to the innovative moulding technique Weidmüller IE cables offer proven high performance characteristics, protection against manipulation, effective anti-kink protection and a high level of strain relief. The IP67 rating is a distinguishing feature of the sturdy mechanical interface. The components fulfil PROFINET specifications and conform to IEC 61076-3-117, variant 14. Thanks to STEADYTEC® technology the compact PushPull connectors offer reliable shielding (SF/UTP).

The pre-assembled PROFINET patch cables are suitable for use with drag-chains (Type C) Cat. 5 moulded, they correspond to category Cat. 5 (ISO/IEC 11801) / Cat.5e (TIA 568-B). The conductor cross-section is 4xAWG 22/7 - 0.36 mm2, the maximum sheath diameter is 6.7 mm (sheath material PUR), the max. core insulation diameter is 1.6 mm. The patch cable has been designed for 3 million bending cycles at a speed of 180 m/mm, an acceleration of 4 m/s2 and a withdrawal force of ≤ 150 N.

The permissible ambient operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +70 °C, the installation routing temperature from -20 °C to +60 °C. Weidmüller's IE cable for PROFINET displays very good abrasion-resistance properties, it is flame retardant to IEC 60332-1 and oil resistant in accordance with IEC 60811-2-1. PROFINET IE cables are available ex-works in the following lengths: 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m and 10 m.

A comprehensive range of accessories for PROFINET rounds off Weidmüller's offer: these include the sheathing stripper AM 12 (for UTP and STP data cables) and IE-CST (for coaxial and round data cables) through to a diverse range of markers to mark electrical equipment, including inlay tags, transparent sleeves and cable markers.

To transmit power signals and data in automobile engineering applications in accordance with AIDA* Weidmüller offers a seamless installation system that fulfils PROFINET cabling guidelines. The installation system can utilize both copper and fibre-optic cable technology and includes active and passive components as well as the appropriate tools.

Using the multi-functional tool "HTX-IE POF" to strip insulation, crimp and cut POF cables (Polymer Optical Fibre) makes it is possible to quickly, reliably and simply prepare and terminate IP20 and IP67 fibre optic connectors. Subsequent time-consuming polishing of the cut surfaces is not necessary.
