Weidmüller ACT20M family has been extended to include the conversion and isolation of bipolar and temperature signals

Modules just 6 mm wide, designed to be reliable and extremely flexible / ACT20M product family approved for potentially explosive conditions for zone 2

Weidmüller is extending its established ACT20M family by adding new bipolar signal and temperature converters. With a width of just 6 mm, the new ACT20M family members reliably convert and isolate bipolar signals and temperature signals. The space-saving signal and temperature converters are extremely flexible in design and allow for highly precise measurements. The ACT20M product family, approved for potentially explosive conditions for zone 2, consistently meets increased customer needs by enabling highly precise measurements of voltage and current signals and converting them into standard signals.

The reliable conversion and isolation of signals is an essential requirement in many fields of automation engineering. This ranges from current sensors in the energy sector through to torque, position and acceleration sensors in marine engineering and temperature sensors in the beverage industry, for instance. The ACT20M family from Weidmüller provides for highly precise measurements of voltage and current signals as well as their conversion into standard signals in a wide variety of application fields. Weidmüller is extending its established ACT20M family with the new 6 mm-wide bipolar signal converters and temperature converters. The bipolar signal converters are characterised by the rapid conversion of signals, while the temperature converters enable highly precise measurements. Thanks to great accuracy, high insulation voltages, a wide temperature range and international approvals as well as exceptional EMC properties, the ACT20M series provides compact, universal solutions for signal conversion and isolation.

High measurement accuracy across wide temperature ranges plays a major role in cooling technology. The manufacture of basic chemical substances - where many reactions only occur in a defined narrow temperature window - also requires high measurement accuracy. The foodstuffs and packaging industry is another field of use where the cooling chain for meat or fresh milk products must be continuous, i.e. remain free of interruption.

Weidmüller has paid particular attention to the simple configuration of the new bipolar signal converters and temperature converters in its ACT20M family. Thus, users can simply configure the input and output parameters as well as the reaction speed using DIP switches on the side of the device.

The new members of the ACT20M family are also tolerant to interference-prone signals. Configurable response times allow for customised adjustment, thus enabling the conversion of interference-prone signals with a slower reaction time. The new ACT20M temperature variants have a configurable conversion time of 30 ms or 300 ms. The temperature converters are specifically designed for time-critical applications, i.e. for extremely fast running applications where they are used for 30 ms response times. External or internal cold-junction compensation of the temperature converter for the J/K thermocouple enables highly accurate measurements. The signal duplication of a bipolar input signal into two standard signals allows the connection of a signal display and a control unit (PLC).

The new bipolar signal converters and temperature converters in the ACT20M family are designed to be robust and reliable. They work in a wide temperature range from -25°C to +70°C. Similarly to all the modules from the ACT20M product family, they are easily and conveniently supplied with power via the rail bus. The rail bus - with its five conductor tracks - is simply integrated in the TS35 top-hat rail, with standard heights of 7.5 or 15 mm (DIN EN 60715), and replaces costly individual wiring.

Weidmüller is simultaneously bringing six new variants onto the market that isolate and/or convert temperature signals: ACT20M-RTCI-CO-OLP-S (PT100, 2/3/4 conductors, thermocouples according to IEC 584, type: J/K), ACT20M-RTI-CO-EOLP-S (PT100, 2/3/4 conductors), ACT20M-RTI-AO-S (PT100, 2/3/4 conductors), ACT-20M-RTI-AO-E-S (PT100, 2/3/4 conductors), ACT20M-TCI-AO-S (thermocouple type J, K), ACT-20M-TCI-AO-E-S (thermocouple type J, K). Process safety is ensured through the high measuring accuracy of up to 0.05 percent and the wide temperature range.

The approvals in accordance with CE, cULus, DNV, FMEX, GL, IECEX and KEMAATEX predestine the modules for use in diverse applications around the world.
