Welding engineering work at Weidmüller's stainless-steel enclosure production certified for the field of railway vehicles and components

The German-based Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mgh (GSI SLV) has certified Weidmüller's "Klippon®" stainless steel enclosures production operations in accordance with the international standard regulating quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials DIN EN ISO 3834-3 and to DIN EN 15085-2 regulating the welding of railway vehicles and components. In doing so it has verified Weidmüller's modern methods of production incorporating state-of-the-art engineering technology. The production process and weld seams guarantee the enclosures provide best-possible protection functionality. The certificate entitles Weidmüller's stainless-steel enclosure production to perform welding engineering work for the field of railway vehicles and components. Operating its own flexible production in Detmold enables Weidmüller to offer all-embracing, application-specific solutions.

To be able to offer optimum enclosure solutions to the railway vehicle market Weidmüller successfully built on its existing IRIS certification (International Railway Industry Standard) by specifically undertaking certification to verify its production of stainless steel enclosures meets the demands of this branch of industry: Weidmüller's Klippon® TB enclosures are now approved for the field of application "new build of equipment boxes for railway vehicles" in the regulated area of "welding of railway vehicles and components". Weidmüller's enclosure production is allowed to carry out welding work within the field of application of certification level CL2 in compliance with the European standard DIN EN 15085-2. For years Klippon® TB enclosures have proven their value in harsh industrial environments as well as in applications in explosive atmospheres (ATEX, IECEx). Made of electropolished 1.4404/316L stainless-steel the enclosures are available in twelve sizes with three depths and protection class ratings IP 66/67.
