During the design and implementation of its new machine, W+D concentrated on the requirements of its customers. "Right from the start our intention was to develop a machine based on the rule of thumb: Top economy and faster return on investment. Our customers expect this of us - and rightly so", explains Dr. Achim Wapniewski, Sales Manager at W+D.
Everything about the W+D 232 is geared to flexibility, fast setup times and uncomplicated handling. This starts with the easily adjustable universal feeder and the aligner section for envelope formats from C7 to C4 - with or without windows - and continues with the extendable printing plate cylinders that facilitate the attachment of the printing plates.
Without having to change machine parts, the W+D 232 can print in 1-up operation (up to 42,000 units/h) or in 2-up operation (up to 72,000 units/h). Both printing units are equipped with automatic, dynamic-speed ink and dampening control and can be decoupled for single-color printing motifs. Large-volume precision ink fountains with slotted inking blades and lever-zone operation guarantee precise ink volume control and sufficient capacity for motifs with considerable ink consumption and long-running jobs.
1:1 ink form rollers and precise rolling between the plate and blanket cylinders ensure balanced coloring and texts with distinct contours and screens. Thanks to a 360° register raster adjustment system, several motifs can be placed on a single printing plate which, on the one hand, reduces printing plate consumption and, at the same time, reduces setup times.
A further advantage: Installation of the machine incorporated in the plant is virtually by means of plug & play. It is ready for production within the shortest of times. The new W+D 232 is thus not only one of the most productive and reliable 2-color offset printing machines for envelopes on the market but also a worthwhile investment, in particular, for producers of transactional, transpromo and direct mail orders.
