"With the wayRTS software as our planning and scheduling tool, our goal is to achieve a minimum of 98 percent on-time delivery, and a further reduction of stock holding by 15 percent," explains Udo Erath, Global Production Director at KUKA Roboter GmbH. "We believe we can accomplish this because we will be able to reduce lead times and markedly increase transparency in the supply chain from the supplier right up to the distribution warehouse." Experience gathered by Wassermann AG from comparable SCM projects provides KUKA Roboter GmbH with the necessary confidence that these goals can be achieved within just 12 months of the software going live.
After evaluating leading advanced planning and scheduling systems including real-time simulation, KUKA Roboter GmbH settled on implementing wayRTS, Wassermann AG's planning and scheduling software. The implementation phase including the definition of data structures and data exchange to the SAP ERP system for data management, the development of the planning structures and rules, and employee training began in January 2008. The launch at KUKA Roboter GmbH is planned for the end of July 2008.
