The special thing about passive houses is their high-quality building envelope and building services that reduce heat consumption considerably. Solar power, sensible heat from the inhabitants, heat from domestic appliances along with heat recovery are sufficient to keep the building warm. As a benefit provided by prefabricated houses, one might consider the fact that many structural elements are immediately available, disregard of the weather. Fast assembly of the prefabricated parts leads to savings in time and cost for the house builder. This type of construction may however mean high energy costs, since prefabricated houses often lack windproofness.
The walls of the patent Wallfit system now put an end to these problems. Wallfit, the wall off the assembly line, combines the favorable properties of solid houses to cost and time saving prefabrication. This is done by employing splint shuttering blocks - Wallfit climate blocks - to build solid prefabricated walls. Modules such as doors, windows or ventilating systems as well as sanitary pipes are integral components of the walls.
Inventor Hans-Peter Hagemüller holds the patent for this innovation. In the following he explains its good properties of air conditioning: "Wallfit passive houses are insulated according to the new Regulations on Saving Energy, which will be in effect from 2009. Being only 46 centimeters thick, including insulation, the Wallfit walls already meet passive house standards. They are made up of cement-bond splints with a concrete core, i.e. the Wallfit climate block, in connection with an insulating material. Thanks to their heat-storage capacity, the building materials provide for insulation and windproofness, making the building warm and cozy in winter. In summer, the solid Wallfit walls make the rooms naturally cool."
The Wallfit walls are delivered to the site completely prefabricated. The solid Wallfit house is set up within just one week. Another week or two later, the Wallfit house is ready for wallpapers and flooring. The German TÜV authority oversees manufacturing and construction of the buildings, which further steps up safety for house builders, architects and constructors.
Hagemüller states: "Wallfit passive house walls are another product that includes benefits for Wallfit licensees and clients, of course. It stands for an innovation that can make each new residential building a passive building, thus reducing energy consumption down to almost zero."
