The competitions to determine the future World Champions in Athletics will be held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha from late September to early October. VIDI GmbH will be one of the first event service providers to be present there and will be transmitting the TV signals live for the Qatari telecommunications provider Ooredoo.

Another event for VIDI in the Middle East

While the athletes are set to compete against each other from 28 September, VIDI’s work will be starting earlier. The company is set to officially launch its service on 15 September 2019 and continue for a month. During this time, VIDI Media will be providing contribution services between the Khalifa Stadium Doha and the National Theatre Doha.

To be precise, VIDI will be offering one UHD and nine HD transmissions, as well as data services during this time. The UHD service will be compressed in HEVC, the HD services in J2K. The 10G networks required for both locations will be provided by the Qatari telecommunications provider Ooredoo. VIDI will be using its VIDI NMS tool for network management as well as providing on-site engineering support to ensure smooth operations during the World Athletics Championships in Doha.

“We are delighted to be able to completely provide and accompany our first event in the new international sports metropolis in the Middle East. This is a first important milestone for VIDI, especially in view of the other sporting events in Doha such as the 2022 Football World Cup”, sums up Robert Oszvald, VIDI GmbH’s Event Sales Director.
