ESRG Study "Carbon Footprints of Recycled Solvents"

The European Solvent Recycler Group in cooperation with ETHOS Research (UK) has released a study "CARBON FOOTPRINTS OF RECYCLED SOLVENTS" which focuses on waste organic solvents and compares the environmental impacts of recycled and virgin materials. Using life cycle assessment (LCA) as a tool, the paper demonstrates that solvent recycling leads to significant environmental benefits compared with using virgin solvents, including a much lower carbon footprint. The LCA results show that, depending on the solvent the carbon footprint of recycled substances is 46-92% lower than that for the respective virgin material.
