Another award for Venjakob Mechanical Engineering: After the iF Product Design Award 2011 for the Ven Spray Perfect spray-coating line in January, the 1st Price of the Novelty Symposium at the LIGNA now followed for the Venjakob quick colour change system. Not only the product design but also the technical expertise of the painting and surface specialists from Rheda-Wiedenbrück has now been awarded by an expert jury of the wood processing and manufacturing industry.
The Novelty Symposium, where selected novelties and innovations as defined by the industry that have not been on the market for longer than two years are presented, has become a fixed date on the LIGNA calendar. This is already the 18th time that the event was organised by Schuler Consulting GmbH, the Rosenheim University and the publishing house, DRW-Verlag.
Only participants in the Novelty Symposium select the winner of the award; up to three “prizeworthy" novelties could be selected from the proposed list of 59 novelties. The participants voted the Venjakob quick colour change system as number 1. With this system, Venjakob has developed a production-ready, automated colour management system which allows you to change the colour during production in just a few seconds, whereby as well two-component paints are first metered and mixed on the colour changer.
Colour change during running production
Customised production, small quantities – and to top it all, different colours. Previously it was hardly cost-effective to meet these demands for painting furniture components. With its new quick colour change system, equipped with components from L & S Oberflächentechnologie GmbH & Co. KG, Schloß Holte -Stukenbrock/Germany, Venjakob Maschinenbau is moving ahead of the times.
“With the new system, a colour change in automatic spray coating machines now only takes between 30 and 60 seconds,” explains Otto Nüßer, Venjakob Managing Director. However, the benefits of the change system that was already integrated in the production systems of some Venjakob customers go far beyond that of a simple time-saver.
Nüßer: ” Because of the short supply lines between the system and the spray guns, substantial savings in paint consumption due to significant lower losses can easily be achieved. In addition, the use of detergents is greatly reduced, and last but not least, so also disposal costs.
The quick colour change system can be used for all conventional as well as 2-component painting systems. Up to seven different colours are available simultaneously. “For customised painting processes”, so Nüßer, “this opens up completely new and, above all, economically viable options for even the smallest quantities.”
