The welcoming address at COWEC is to be given by the conference co-president Dr. Andrew Garrad of GL Garrad Hassan, United Kingdom. Both Tuomo J. Hatakka, chairman of the board of directors of Vattenfall, and Dr. Hans Bünting, CEO of RWE Innogy, Germany, have agreed to be keynote speakers. "COWEC's technically challenging program is what is primarily the attraction," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Reuter, President of COWEC and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute IWES in Bremerhaven. Bünting and Ignacio Láinez Aracama, Director Evaluación Energética at EDP Renováveis, will be contributing to the panel discussion.
A total of 65 papers from well-known companies will be given in five parallel sessions. Speakers will include experts from ZF Wind Power Antwerpen, Mecal Wind Turbines Design, Siemens UK as well as Winergy, Bosch Rexroth and the University of Sydney. "This mixture of industry and research at the highest level enables us, by assessing the abstracts beforehand, to prepare a particularly interesting and ambitious programme that will be unique, " says Reuter.
In the two days preceding and following COWEC four seminars will be held offering participants the opportunity to obtain even more detailed information about particular aspects. Themes of the seminars are meteorology and wind measurement, legal aspects of crossborder businesses, project planning and the principles of wind energy technology.
Participants who decide early to attend the conference will profit from an early bird booking rebate. The final program for COWEC will be available online up from mid-February. Current information about the international wind energy industry and COWEC is on Twitter under @COWEC_News.
