Swisscom Broadcast has decided to install transmitter monitoring equipment from German company VAD in the course of the currently running rollout of digital broadcasting networks (DAB).
The devices, installed at every transmitter, check the quality of transmitted signals as well as the integrity of the multiplex of services. A special feature of the DAB Monitor called device is the automatic supervision of synchronism of the DAB network. Thus, critical errors in the transmitter network can be detected, localized and repaired quickly.
The supervision of transmitter network by special equipment has been a demand of SRG SSR ideé suisse, the customer of Swisscom Broadcast. Through the DAB Monitor, the reliability in the densest digital broadcasting network of the world shall be assured, that listeners expect from a modern digital radio.

"With alike devices as installed by now in Switzerland, even those transmitters for mobile TV (DMB) could be monitored, that are in operation now in Korea and Germany."
