Ultra-compact, low-power USM-MEMS-VOC sensor module enables rapid measurement of air quality

Small size of only 15 x 17 x 3 mm and current consumption of less than 14 mA in continuous operation

(PresseBox) (Düsseldorf, )
Unitronic will present for the first time in Hall 12, Booth 267 at the trade show SENSOR+TEST 2015 in Nuremberg, May 19 to 21, 2015, a low-power USM-MEMS-VOC sensor module that enables an especially rapid detection of different volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the air. The Unitronic Sensor Module (USM) has small dimensions of only 15 x 17 x 3 mm. It is equipped with a high-precision, long-term stable TGS 8100 miniature Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) sensor from Figaro and reacts within less than 8 seconds to the release of harmful gases. The current consumption in continuous operation is less than 14 mA.

The USM-MEMS-VOC is designed for a supply voltage of 1.8 V. As a result of its low current consumption and small size, the sensor module is especially suited for use in battery-operated applications. A PWM signal for analog interpretation, three digital outputs, a UART interface, automatic base-level adjustment and automatic humidity/temperature compensation by means of an optional external sensor makes it easy to integrate the USM-MEMS-VOC into a wide range of applications.

For example, in combination with a climate control unit, room ventilation control that automatically reacts to pollutants and unpleasant odors can be realized with the USM-MEMS-VOC. This concept serves not only to enhancing human well-being; it also contributes to optimizing energy efficiency of the air conditioning system.

Detailed information about the Unitronic Sensor Module USM-MEMS-VOC and samples can be requested by sending an email to sensormodule@unitronic.de.
