For the first time, the network benchmarking expert P3 and connect, an international telecommunication test magazine for consumers, have analysed the mobile networks in Brazil with regards to mobile network quality and performance. Today, the results are available. The Mobile Review Brazil evaluates the four mobile networks TIM, Claro, Oi and Vivo. Applying the P3 methodology, the industry-standard in more than 80 countries worldwide, a thorough crowd based analysis has been conducted – with view to the whole country and also to the large Brazilian cities Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro. The analysis shows where the network performance differs. Furthermore, it allows to compare Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro with leading world capitals – like Berlin, Cape Town, Jakarta, London, Singapore and Sydney.

The analysis is based on 6.3 billion samples collected from 966,000 users in 81.2% of the built-up area throughout Brazil. The data was collected in a consecutive 3-month-period from December 2018 to February 2019. The results reveal the specific strengths of each operator thus providing them with a full 360-degree view of their networks.

Vivo achieves the strongest score overall and also provides the best Voice and Data Coverage. TIM ranks best in 4G Coverage, while Claro achieves the best score for User Download Speed. Vivo and Oi score best for Data Service Availability.

“Our 2019 Mobile Review Brazil shows interesting results. What is quite remarkable is the huge difference between rural and metropolitan areas with regards to mobile network quality and performance. It is by far more distinct than in most other countries in the world. Especially in rural areas, we see a clear opportunity for improvements for all Brazilian operators”, says Hakan Ekmen, CEO of P3 communications.

Comparing the city results of Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro with those achieved in in other metropolitan areas as Berlin, Cape Town, Jakarta, London, Singapore and Sidney shows that the Brazilian operators score in the middle field – in global comparison.
