The new product series comprises u²t's well established balanced receiver technology integrated with delay line interferometer (DLI) technology based on best performing and proven free-space optics and is suited for communications systems using higher order transmission formats such as DPSK or DQPSK.
u²t has successfully pursued its close partnership with two leading suppliers of DLI technology, utilizing the expertise and strength of each partner in the most efficient way. The companies are prepared to support the immediate market introduction and to deliver against fast growing demand from subsystem manufacturers.
"This new product generation enables our customers to build smaller form factor transponders, avoiding component matching and fiber routing." says Jens Fiedler, VP Sales and Marketing at u2t. "Integration of components is one path towards cost efficient solutions and will further grow the 40G business by lowered overall system cost."
The product has been specified in close interaction with leading transponder and line card manufacturers and is now available for customer sampling. The receiver family offers variants with FSR values between 21GHz and 67GHz; supporting customer specific requirements and various applications. The IDRV2xxx series is targeted for volume production in early 2010 and will offer a price benefit against the discrete solutions when delivered in volume.
The product will be demonstrated at this year's ECOC, 21st to 23rd September in Vienna at u²t's booth #439 among other new products for 40 and 100G applications.
