The MSA, named CCRx (Compact Coherent Receiver), provides the receiver form factor, pin function definitions, pin locations, and functionality in a compact optical receiver package designed to enable rapid product development and ease of component procurement for optical transponder and line card manufacturers.
"This agreement will help support the emergence of the 100G dual polarization quadrature phase-shift keying (DP-QPSK) applications, providing advanced solutions to high capacity long haul and metro networks," said the MSA Committee. "The MSA is focused on 100G, but may also be utilized as a standard for 40G coherent detection applications."
Picometrix and u2t are both contributing members of the 100G Long Distance DWDM Integrated Photonics working group within the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF), a catalyst for fostering industry standards. The MSA is intended to be compatible with any forthcoming OIF 100G optical receiver implementation agreement.
Both companies will be exhibiting at ECOC, Europe's largest optical communications event, in Vienna, Austria from September 21-23, 2009. Each company will have their full line of products on display, Picometrix in booth #704 and u2t in booth #438.
