Skype, international agierender Anbieter von Kommunikationsdiensten über das Internet, nutzt für seinen Dienst Skype SMS den SMS-Versand des Münchener SMS-Operators TynTec. Mit dem neuen Skype-Dienst können die 171 Millionen Skype-Nutzer SMS vom Desktop aus an Mobiltelefone in aller Welt verschicken. TynTecs direkter Zugang zur Mobilfunk-Infrastruktur SS7 und das proprietäre SMS-Center bieten Skype die Abwicklung hoher SMS-Aufkommen unter Beibehaltung höchster Service-Qualität. Da TynTec die Zustellung der SMS an das Mobiltelefon des Empfängers innerhalb von maximal 15 Sekunden garantiert, können sich die Nutzer auf das von Skype gewohnte Qualitätsniveau verlassen und auch per SMS nahezu in Echtzeit kommunizieren.

TynTec ist ein SMS Operator, der Geschäftskunden "Enterprise Quality SMS Services" zur Steuerung unternehmenskritischer Prozesse bereitstellt. Diese unterscheiden sich von herkömmlichen SMS-Diensten durch hohe Zuverlässigkeit und Zugriffs-Sicherheit, die durch eine direkte Verbindung zwischen Absender und Empfänger gewährleistet wird.
