TÜV SÜD marks Charter of Trust's third anniversary with new episodes of its "Safety First" podcast

Cybersecurity and privacy

(PresseBox) (München, )
The Charter of Trust was founded by Siemens and other global leading companies in February 2018 at the Munich Security Conference. TÜV SÜD is an active member in the global cybersecurity alliance. Marking the Charter’s third anniversary, two new podcast episodes now explore how the Charter’s goals and principles help to make the digital world safer and more secure, describe what has been achieved so far and outline what to expect next.

Initiated by Siemens with the aim of building trust in cybersecurity and digitalisation, the Charter of Trust was founded three years ago at the Munich Security Conference. To date 17 leading international companies have joined the global alliance for a safer digital world. In keeping with its mission of inspiring trust, TÜV SÜD is proud to be an active member of the initiative. “We contribute to the protection of critical systems and sensitive data through our independence, deep domain expertise and regulatory know-how, helping our customers and the society increase their levels of cybersecurity”, says Sudhir Ethiraj, Global Head of Cybersecurity Office (CSO) at TÜV SÜD.

Cybersecurity concerns all of us. Therefore, all members signed the Charter of Trust's ten principles that are fundamental to a secure digital world. The principles are based on the Charter’s three key objectives: to protect the data of individuals and companies, to prevent damage to people, companies and infrastructures, and to lay a reliable foundation on which confidence in a networked, digital world can take root and grow. Marking the Charter’s third anniversary, two episodes of TÜV SÜD’s “Safety First” podcast will explore how these goals and principles can help to make the digital world safer and more secure, describe what has been achieved so far and of course, outline what to expect next. In episode #31 Natalia Oropeza, Chief Cybersecurity Officer and Chief Diversity Officer Siemens AG, explains Siemens' initial motivation for joining forces with other companies and establishing the Charter of Trust. Natalia Oropeza also reports what has been achieved so far and informs about the next milestones. And as she explains, diversity turns out to have quite a lot to do with cybersecurity.

In episode #32, we learn from Angelika Steinacker, CTO Identity & Access Management, IBM Security Europe at IBM and Sudhir Ethiraj, Global Head of Cybersecurity Office (CSO) at TÜV SÜD, why the principle of “security by default” is crucial when it comes to safeguarding products and the underlying processes as well as organizations along with their value chains.
