The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the gulf region, regarding geographic size and population which is expected to be 29 million by the year 2015. With the increasing number of population the responsibility to provide a suitable healthcare system answering current and future needs grows. This challenge resulted in the new healthcare policy of the KSA that includes to expand existing hospitals and build new ones. At the moment there are 393 hospitals in the KSA with a total of 55,000 beds. The largest healthcare provider is the MOH with 324 hospitals containing 35,000 beds and several expansions and new hospital building projects. MOH hospitals are distributed all over the Kingdom implementing the national strategy to provide reputable healthcare services for citizens in urban areas as well as in rural areas.
The won project in Saudi Arabia is a milestone in the journey of TRUMPF's success in Saudia Arabia, also benefitting from the strong partnership between Al Faisaliah Medical Systems and TRUMPF. TRUMPF Medical Systems can speak about continuously growing success in the Middle East. Since the beginning of 2008, doctors, surgeons and OR assistants as well as planners and hospital administrators, have been able to see and try out for themselves complex solutions for the OR and intensive care units at the TRUMPF Competence Centre in Dubai Healthcare City. This is a unique concept in this region, helping hospitals optimise internal clinical processes and increasing patient safety. In rooms designed true-to-practice as OR and ICU and equipped with the latest TRUMPF technology, medical personnel can experience how the workplaces of the future can appear.
