Quick work with the 2in1 fiber

New 2in1 fiber: weld and cut with a single laser light cable -| New feature included in TruLaser Cell 3010

(PresseBox) (Stuttgart / Ditzingen, )
One laser light cable, two applications: The new 2in1 fiber, developed by TRUMPF specifically for TruDisk disk lasers, allows users to rapidly switch from welding to cutting without changing the laser light cable. Switch applications in the TruLaser Cell 3010, for example, is done simply by changing the machining optics. This greatly reduces retooling times while protecting the lenses from dirt and scratches.

The patented laser light cable has two different, but concentric, fiber diameters. Its inner fiber core has a diameter of 100 µm, while the outer ring has a diameter of 400 µm. The system control unit detects whether the user wants the machine to weld or cut and automatically couples the laser beam to either the inner fiber core (cutting) or the outer ring (welding) by means of a core switch. The 2in1 fiber ensures that the laser beam reaches the workpiece at the right depth of field and the right focus diameter. This new fiber technology not only produces optimum processing results, it also enhances flexibility and ease-of-use.

The new 2in1 laser light cable is a standard feature of the TruLaser Cell 3010, a highly dynamic machine for 2D and 3D laser processing. The five-axis TruLaser Cell 3010 is ideal for small and large workpieces and is typically used for welding and cutting sample parts, prototypes and small to medium-sized production batches. Suitable laser beam sources are selected from TRUMPF's extensive portfolio based on the application requirements of the customer. Users also have the option of incorporating the ControlLine distance sensor. This maintains a constant distance between the workpiece surface and the cutting nozzle which is especially beneficial in tight-tolerance workpieces. Another integrated feature is FocusLine, a system that automatically adjusts the focus position to suit the material type and thickness. The laser machine is programmed using a swivel control panel featuring TRUMPF's standard user interface.
