In this scenario, the intelligent xEPI 2 solution shows its full, dual potential as a configuration interface and diagnostic unit: It provides the Ethernet-based interface for central device access while simultaneously collecting valuable diagnosis information on network and stations. This information is displayed in FDT applications such as PACTware, FieldCare or FieldMate via the unit's new CommDTM. In clearly arranged designs, users are provided with an overview of status, malfunctions and diagnosis messages of the individual network stations at all times - including detailed information down to module level. In addition to the Live List, bus statistics with physical network parameters and error statistics to identify critical stations are also available. The solution aims at operating Condition Monitoring of the PROFIBUS network in parallel to Condition Monitoring of the field devices.
As an additional feature, the intelligent CommDTM also includes a telegram logger for quick detection of communication errors during field device configuration.
The integrated link to the xEPI 2 website allows plant-wide monitoring of all PROFIBUS networks with automatic email alert as well as remote-maintenance scenarios or mobile service concepts. Here as well, the new solution further facilitates operation and handling, since tags and descriptions can now be automatically imported from the engineering data of the FDT frame.
