Together with the logistic service experts from the Sigloch Group and TSL, trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst has established the Fashion-Logistik competence network for the transportation of hanging garments. "The delivery of hanging garments makes it possible for retailers to present their goods faster and more easily in an optimal manner", says Christoph Schaupp, Managing Director of the Sigloch Group. "This is what makes the competence network interesting, especially for the manufacturers of high-quality garments." The majority of the textiles, such as individually packed shirts for men, however, are not a problem and can, thus, be forwarded in parcels. The shops receive both parcels and hanging garments in one combined delivery", adds Oliver Rupps, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of the trans-o-flex Logistics Group. "With this service, trans-o-flex offers a new industry-specific solution, which, in addition, opens up synergies in our core business, because the fashion season follows a timing that is anti-cyclic to that of trans-o-flex' existing business. This enables us to achieve a more balanced use of our transport capacities and organisation." The new possibilities in textile logistics will be one of the focuses, which the trans-o-flex Logistics Group will present at the transport logistic trade fair in June in hall A5, stand 313.

Partnership of specialists: everybody does what he can do best

Each of the three partners within the Fashion-Logistik competence network performs those tasks that best suit the individual company's specialties. For example, trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst, with its nationwide organisation, has taken over the major part of the fine distribution throughout Germany. Sigloch and TSL pick up the goods from the customers, distribute them from the three regional logistic centres in Hamburg, Mönchengladbach and Blaufelden to the dispatch centres of the trans-o-flex network and assume the delivery of large-scale shipments.

"We are gradually extending the transport network for hanging garments", explains Oliver Rupps. "Together with our partners, we, in the first three months, have already delivered more than 100,000 garments on hangers to the utmost satisfaction of our customers." During the run-up phase, both the distribution centres involved and the delivery vehicles of trans-o-flex were prepared for the handling and transportation of hanging garments. "With respect to the handling, it turned out to be feasible and efficient to work with mobile clothes stands and, inside the vehicles, firmly installed clothes rails", continues Oliver Rupps. "However, we are also testing other options in order to have the best possible solution."

trans-o-flex' two partners are logistic service providers with a versatile know-how in the areas of transportation, storage and textiles. Established in 1978, Sigloch Distribution, a company of the Sigloch Group, operates locations in Blaufelden (Baden-Wuerttemberg) and Horšovsky Týn (Czech Republic). The company has a workforce of more than 600 employees and a production and storage area of 90,000 m². The two locations' average dispatch volume amounts to 200,000 shipments every day. TSL Textil-Service und Logistik in Norderstedt, with four locations in North Germany, achieves an annual volume of approximately 25 million units and has a storage area with 29,000 pallet spaces and a capacity for 500,000 hanging garments. Established in 1995, the company has a workforce of 125 employees. For questions concerning textile logistics, please contact trans-o-flex and send an e-mail to: textil@tof.de.
