Als weltweit erster Automobilhersteller bot Porsche im Jahre 2017 die geflochtenen Carbonräder aus dem Hause thyssenkrupp Carbon Components an – eine Premiere für beide Unternehmen. Die innovativen Räder aus hochwertigem carbonfaserverstärktem Kunststoff (CFK) standen als Option für den Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series zur Verfügung. Für thyssenkrupp Carbon Components stellte der Markteintritt einen bedeutenden Meilenstein dar.

Im konkreten Fall ist die um 20% reduzierte Radmasse bei gleichzeitig um 20% erhöhter Steifigkeit und Festigkeit im Vergleich zur Serienausstattung hervorzuheben. Diese Qualitäten basieren auf dem patentierten Herstellungsverfahren des 2012 in Deutschland gegründeten Unternehmens thyssenkrupp Carbon Components. Die Flechttechnologie, welche mittels der größten Radialflechtanlage der Welt angewandt wird, ist einmalig und das Herzstück der Produktion in Kesselsdorf nahe Dresden. Die technologischen und produktionsbedingten Neuerungen resultieren in einer Verringerung der ungefederten Massen und einer verbesserten Übertragung der Längs- und Querkräfte. Für den Fahrer ist somit eine verbesserte Beschleunigung, dynamischeres Einlenkverhalten sowie effizienteres Bremsverhalten spürbar.

„Dieses Projekt war für uns von großer Bedeutung – unser erstes Serienprojekt im Automobilsektor. Dieser Sportwagen verdiente ein exklusives Rad und unser Vollcarbonrad mit seiner neu- und einzigartigen Technologie wurde diesem Ziel mehr als gerecht“, stellt Geschäftsführer Dr. Jens Werner fest und fügt hinzu: „Es war eine innovative Entwicklung, welche mit der qualitätsgerechten Serienproduktion erfolgreich abgeschlossen wurde. Dass unsere Entwicklungskompetenzen, Produktionstechnologien und Qualitätsstandards den Ansprüchen von Porsche entsprechen, erfüllt mich heute noch mit Stolz. Demnach schauen wir gerne auf unsere gemeinsame Weltpremiere zurück.“
