In support of the Smart Telecom services, Thomson will provide a solution integrating its comprehensive IPTV solution with its Cirpack VoIP softswitch to enable unique communications services in addition to interactive and on-demand video. Smart Telecom, who has its own DSL network has purchased Thomson’s set-top boxes, VIBE MPEG4 encoders, Sapphire video-on-demand servers, and SmartVision IPTV service platforms.

With Thomson’s Triple Play solutions, Smart Telecom’s customers will enjoy a uniquely integrated communications experience for video, telephony and messaging on their TV set. The advanced video features will include a large range of services including video–on- demand replay TV, picture in picture, personal video recording, time shifting and electronic programme guides.. Using Thomson’s unique chipset embedded within Thomson’s video encoders and content access via HD and PVR set-top box platforms, Smart Telecom will also be able to deliver HD quality video to most its subscribers.
