Esprit Automises New Logistics Centre with TGW

(PresseBox) (Wels, )
Systems integrator TGW will be implementing the entire technical logistics solution within Esprit's new logistics centre that is currently built in Mönchengladbach, Germany. A fully automated carton warehouse and an innovative picking system by TGW are the core elements of the new facility.

Lifestyle company Esprit is currently establishing the new Esprit DC Europe logistics centre in Mönchengladbach, close to the German A61 motorway, to distribute the products of the label founded in 1968 all over Europe. Fiege Deutschland Stiftung & Co. KG will operate this logistics centre for Esprit.

Based on the concept created by logistics planner Integral, Austria-based general contractor TGW developed the optimum material handling solution for Esprit's new distribution centre. TGW's overall intra-logistics concept perfectly combines process automation, ergonomic design of the remaining manual processes, incomparably gentle material handling and maximum profitability.

The distribution centre shall be implemented in several realisation phases and thus is flexibly expandable. In order to be able to handle the high throughput performance, Esprit opted for TGW's innovative DropBox order picking concept. A fully automatic carton warehouse with multi-deep storage structure and a total capacity for nearly 250,000 cartons after completion will be used to replenish the picking area. "Our long experience in direct carton handling and the highly efficient DropBox picking system convinced Esprit and Fiege", Rudolf Hansl, Managing Director of TGW Logistics Group GmbH, is satisfied. "Close collaboration with the customer in the detailed solution design process was extremely important for both sides, as it enabled us to find the optimum solution and adapt the system 100 % to Esprit's needs."
