Roland Hödl, Departmental Manager at ZF Getriebe GmbH commented on the newly installed software as follows: “With Teraport’s software module we are able to have the oil level in transmission systems calculated at the push of a button. This functions perfectly, even in the case of complex geometries, and hence this time-consuming interactive task of former days is now no longer necessary. DMU.Fill calculates the filling capacity in accordance with the specifications for volume, filling point and acceleration state. The provision of information on the lubrication of various components is therefore already made possible in the early product development phases”.
Extensive possibilities for the application of the DMU.Fill module
With the DMU.Fill module it is possible to carry out analyses of fluid systems. These analyses, for example, already facilitate the automatic examination of the filling capacity level in tanks or oil sumps in the virtual development state. A quick and easy determination of the volume of complex hollow geometries as, for example, the compression volume in cylinders is easily possible to achieve in practice. Roland Hödl went on to say: “The function for the determination of so-called dead volume is also impressive. DMU.Fill can detect where “puddles” which cannot be evacuated are formed when fluids are drained. All in all, we are taking a big step in the direction of achieving our objective of the continuous digital safeguarding of the function of our products, and with the Teraport technology we are also optimizing the handling of our resources”.
Integration into existing product development processes
The integration of the software into existing product development processes can easily be implemented. The flexible interfaces of all the modules of the DMU-Toolkit facilitate integration into the various CAD systems. Hence a direct and straightforward data exchange is possible and the test results are made available in, for example, ProE within a very short time span.
