Teraport GmbH, a Company belonging to caatoosee ag, has implemented Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 at the LEWA Group. It is now possible for all LEWA employees to work with the standard applications without a special client installation, independent of their respective locations. In combination with the Citrix WEB Browser, applications such as SAP, the PDM system, MS Office, or even LEWA-specific technical systems can now be utilized centrally.
External access was the main reason for the Citrix implementation. LEWA employees frequently work in sensitive areas, such as on oil production platforms. In many cases it is not possible to access information with one’s own terminal equipment. In the words of Dr. Achim Lamatsch, CIO at LEWA GmbH : "It is now possible to access the required information from the LEWA network at any given time with the PCs provided on location. By being able to access e-mails, engineering drawings and datasheets at any time, we can now obtain the information we urgently require to solve problems onsite significantly faster and more efficiently."
Secure access via Citrix Secure Gateway
The Citrix Secure Gateway was installed additionally to ensure secure access. This allows LEWA employees and partners to access applications from all PCs which have the requisite Internet access, JAVA and SSL. The SSL encryption employed is established via a VeriSign certificate which is automatically accepted by the clients.
