TeleTrusT supports 2008 PCI conference of Frankfurt
International standard regulations against larceny and fraud of debit and credit card data
Big credit card organizations like Visa, MasterCard and American Express call for trading firms and service providers which save, transfer or handle debit and credit card transactions to comply with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), the framework of rules and regulations. The data of card holders are only secure if the computer systems of companies conform to the defined rules.
„As a result of increasing international payment transactions PCI DSS becomes more and more important to every growth and global oriented enterprise“, says Dr. Günther Welsch, general manager of TeleTrusT.“ Eventually all debit, credit and pre-paid cards as well as Maestro and Electron debit cards are concerned.“ Mr. Welsch has taken over the presidency of the conference. TeleTrusT supports PCI Frankfurt as a strategic partner and invites the employees of member companies to take part in it as speakers or visitors.
It is the target of the conference to make the relevance of PCI DSS standards for electronic payments security accessible to European companies, to advance the exchange of knowledge and experience and to inform about best practice examples and innovations. The organizers expect more than a hundred decision makers from information security, e-commerce, insurance and finance businesses who are dealing with marketing and banking questions, PCI certification and auditing, electronic payments, compliance and information assurance, IT control, PCI co-ordination, PCI DSS audit as well as risk and security management.
Main topics are regulatory and legal framework conditions, ongoing threatening scenarios for enterprises, protection of payment systems and the advancement of PCI standards.
Speakers already registered are: Daniela Christoffel, Risk Manager (Pago eTransaction Services), Barbara Helbling, Senior Project Manager (Aduno Chip Center of Excellence), Mirko Manske, Detective Chief Superintendent (Federal Criminal Police Office), Natalie Moult, PCI DSS Technical Manager, and Steve Wilson, Head of PCI DSS (both of Visa Europe) as well as Martin Osley, Senior Management Consultant (Zühlke Engineering). Plus speakers from Elavon Merchant Services, Giesecke & Devrient and Adidas.
According to the PCI DSS standard dealers and payment operators must meet twelve basic criteria so that the credit and debit card organizations can be sure of the protection of card holders data against data misuse. Among these are technological security measures, rules for passwords and logins to systems as well as firewalls and other security software.
In order to be one step ahead of hackers debit and credit card organizations improve the technologies of their security programs continuously and seek cross-sectoral cooperation with enterprises and law enforcement agencies. In addition they inform customers and raise their awareness of the topic security.
