Telenor Connexion announced today that the company has chosen the cloud-based Jasper platform to complement its existing portfolio of connected business solutions, to gain flexibility and to support its technology agnostic approach.
Telenor Connexion already deploys the Ericsson DCP platform, an advanced M2M dedicated platform the company developed in 2009 and subsequently sold to Ericsson in 2011.
Companies of all kinds are connecting their products at an ever accelerating pace. The classic base of industrial M2M applications is now being joined by a more rapid take-up under the much broader Internet of Things (IoT) vision in the consumer marketplace.
"We see that the needs vary within different industries and of different customers. By expanding our capabilities we ensure that our growing customer base benefits from the best offering possible and can take advantage of future development. Thereby we keep our leading edge", says Per Simonsen, CEO of Telenor Connexion.
"Deploying services from the two leading platform providers ensures greater flexibility and enables us to collaborate with new partners and operators in global deployments", continues Simonsen.
The investment is part of Telenor Connexion's long-term strategy of becoming technology agnostic, not only when it comes to platforms but also in bearer technologies etc.
In addition, it strengthens the company's position for global business and creates flexibility for customer needs changing over time.
Telenor Connexion is a pioneer in the M2M and IoT market and has provided connected business solutions to a number of global customers such as Volvo, Nissan and Hitachi. The company was established in 2008 and is wholly owned by Telenor Group, one of the world's major mobile operators.
