Weiterhin wurde eine Unterstützung für Apple Mac OS in den Client integriert, so dass der SEC-Stick nun auch von Betriebssystemen mit Java Unterstützung (JRE) aus benutzt werden kann. Mit Version 2.0 wurde der SEC-Stick Client auch mit einer Online Software Update Funktion ausgestattet. Diese biete die Möglichkeit, bei Bedarf, jede Komponente des SEC-Stick's immer auf dem aktuellsten Stand zu halten.
Eine weitere Neuheit stellt die Integration von Smart Card Authentifizierung für den SEC-Stick dar. Der SEC-Stick unterstützt hierbei eine breite Palette von Hardware und kann auf jeder gängigen SmartCard Token Hardware implementiert werden. Eine SSH Authentifizierung mittels X.509 Zertifikat gegen eine CA wird ab Version 2.0 ebenfalls unterstützt.
Wie bei allen SEC-Stick Produkten kommt auch in der neuen Version das bewährte SSH V2 Protokoll zum Einsatz. Übernommen wurde die einfache Handhabung und der Betrieb komplett ohne Installation.Die optimale Serverkomponente ist nach wie vor der von Innominate entwickelte mGuard, mit der Option SEC-Stick Server. Eine Integration in alternative SSH Server ist ebenfalls möglich.
